Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. Queen Bey. An icon. One of the greatest performers we have been blessed with.

On April 17th, 2019, Netflix added Beyoncé’s Coachella documentary “Homecoming: A film by Beyoncé” onto their services and I have not been the same since then!

This documentary allows us in on the 8-month long journey of her preparing for the festival, including behind-the-scenes of practices, time with her kids, workouts, and the actual performance itself.

Let’s first get into this discipline she gave us! Shortly after giving birth to her twins Sir Carter and Rumi, Bey had to immediately begin the snatch-back phase. She pushed herself for 8 months by rigorously working out on top of dealing with practices for the show and maintaining a strict diet.

“In order for me to meet my goals, I’m limiting myself to no bread, no carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol—and I’m hungry,” she says in the documentary. “I had to rebuild my body from cut muscles. What people don’t see is the sacrifice.”

No meat? No alcohol? NO BREAD? How can I even do that when I look like this with a plate full of vegetables?

She weighed 218 pounds after birth and in order for her to reach these goals, sis did not have time to play!

Apart from the preparation itself, the actual the show was AMAZING. The transitions, the visuals, the dancers, the band, all came in and rocked the stage for both nights. Her theme was inspired by HBCU culture, shedding light on how the African American community comes together to celebrate at homecomings. My favorite thing about this is that Bey handpicked every performer in her show and majority of them are black and attending HBCUs.

During her performance she also brought out Destiny’s Child, her sister Solange and Jay-Z. The crowd was going through a roller coaster full of emotions, including myself.

The energy was present throughout the entire performance. Not one time did she look tired or out of breath. Her vibrant smile was always shown and you can tell every performer was giving it their all and loving it at the same time.

The road to that successful performance was a very tough one. She said she will never push herself like that again. Imagine just giving birth to kids and immediately having to train your body. She had some complications during birth including having a c-section, preeclampsia, high blood pressure, and one of the twin’s heartbeat was going in and out. Bey is a SUPERWOMAN. She gave all 20+ years of her career out on that stage.

Bey has been dominating this month! She recently signed a deal with Adidas, gave us this documentary, RELEASED AN ALBUM, uploaded her other album ‘Lemonade’ on Apple Music, and gave us new merchandise on her site. What did we do to deserve all that? Thanks girl!
